I went to the Apple Store to purchase a white Ocean band for my Ultra 2. Unfortunately, Apple no longer makes a white Ocean band. I did not like the Ice Blue color. While at the store, I noticed the Titanium Milanese Loop. I like it, so I’ve ordered it. It will “dress up” my Ultra 2 while in the office.
I did the same thing, just in black. I wanted a nice band for once.
I tried this on in the store, but felt it was a little fiddly to get on and off. I did, however, wonder if it would prove to be a slightly more snug fit over time. The existing Milanese loop (far and away my favourite band) gets loose as I move around.
Would you folks be able to tell me the following based on your lived experiences:
- Does the band fit snugly and require you to adjust it ever after you get the initial fit right?
- How does clipping it on and off bother you? I typically wear 3 bands throughout the day, at least, so it needs to be easy to get on and off my wrist. (Sleeping band, working out band, Milanese. Sometimes leather if I’m going out for a nice dinner and dressing up.)
- How does it feel while working at a desk? I like how thin the current Milanese loop is. I don’t notice it at the desk. With other watch bands, they are either too thick or I feel the clasp digging into my wrist while typing. Does this band suffer from those problems?
I had exactly the same issue with an original one. It never felt it was at the right fit so I was constantly fiddling with it.
I also had that problem. I tested the titanium one in the store. It has a mechanism that will lock the band so that it cannot loosen. The new design appears to have solved that problem.
I felt the same way, but I’ve learned over the years that with practice, one develops a method for fastening and unfastening the locking mechanism. I anticipate that will be my experience with the new band.
I got the black ocean band, for my ultra 2. But I’m really interested in this Milanese Loop. The black looks really sharp.
My Black Shell Cordovan strap feels great.
I was forbidden from buying the black ocean band for my Ultra Watch by the ultimate decider in our household. I already had a blue one; what would a black one do for me? I tried arguing it would make me look super cool, but I was told in the nicest way possible to get over myself.
I have tried a couple of different bands, but I’m always falling back to he sport loop (I think it’s called that). I typically work out 5 days a week and the thought of fiddling with some other bands “all the time” just doesn’t compute with me.
Don’t you guys find it tedious to switch bands?
I do my cardio six days a week. I don’t find changing bands tedious. I change the band at bedtime in preparation for my 4:30 a.m. run. After my run and getting ready for work, I change to a “nicer” band.
Changing my band twice a day takes ~2 minutes per day.
I switch bands when I do cycling workouts. I do find it a bit tedious, but what I really don’t like is that I’ve stabbed myself several times while trying to dislodge a stuck band! I’ve considered having an everyday watch and a workout watch, with the bands I like on each, just to avoid this problem.
I really like those metal bands and especially those Milanese bands - I have a cheaper third party one and like how it feels.
But the one thing that always keeps me wary of using them more often is a experience of a colleague of mine who managed to scratch is space gray 15“ really bad … the whole palm area on the left side looked really bad as the metal band always rested there when he was typing. He didn’t seem to bother as he has a „it’s not mine“ mentality … but to me it really hurt .
I never want this to happen to my 16“ Macbook Pro ↔. Maybe one reason to get a smaller laptop next time, but … naahh
Don’t they know that after dark you’re Batman?
As a person who used to switch bands on a normal watch with its awful lugs, which was truly awful and uncomfortable, the Apple Watch band experience is amazing. I love switching bands, and I think it’s painless. I have shown numerous people how it works and many of them bought the Apple Watch after because it’s so easy to switch bands.
Anecdotally, the ease of switching bands on the Apple Watch seems to be a selling point, not a tedium.
Edit: to add for the sake of clarification, it takes me less time to switch Apple Watch bands than it does for me to put on a single sock.
I’ve gotta learn to switch bands better. It’s hard for me to do without something to push the pin out, which isn’t always where I set it down. So I typically keep the same blue band on all year.
I don’t understand at all. This doesn’t make sense to me. Is this possibly human error? You’re pushing down on the little button, right? Then just sliding it out?
If it doesn’t easily slide, your AW may be defective and I’d bring it in to a store. Heard of that happening before.
Guaranteed. But, also, I just tried on my 10 and the button lets it move way more easily. So something might’ve been wrong with the 6 that I had, or (somehow) the band on it.
