QR code generator recommendation

I’m looking for a good QR code generator that I could use on my MacBook Pro, iPad, and iPhone. Do you have one that you would recommend?

On the Mac I use QRcoder. It’s free and open-source. Available in the Mac App Store. It does all I need (which is very little, but the price is right.)

Can’t help with iPad/iPhone.

I use QR Factory on my Mac. There is an iOS version, but I do not use it. Seems a bit pricey these days (I have a lifetime license, but I do not recall what I paid.)

Build a shortcut in the shortcuts app, there is a “generate QR-code”-action.

Just to add: QR Factory (which is about $/€ 30 usually for a lifetime license) tends to have discounts every now and then. It was 50% off this past BF.

What about Adobe Express?

That was going to be my suggestion too. This link will bring you straight otto the QR code generator, and it’s free.

A very simple shortcut: Shortcuts

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I’ve been able to create QR codes for my contact card and blog. Much appreciated!

I use Text Workflow to generate QR codes, in case you have this and need to generate another in the future.

Are you using the QR code on a business card? If so, have you had a good experience with an online company getting it printed?

No, I seldom carry business cards. I decided that I’d create two QR codes (one for my contact information and one for my blog) and store them in Apple Notes so I can easily share that information with others. I’ll also embed the QR codes on slides when speaking at a conference. I used @DEVONtech_Jim’s shortcut (thanks @DEVONtech_Jim!) for the blog and QR Me or the contact card creation.

Why do you need to use an online printing company? Support your local printer… or go to a Staples/Office Max/whatever, if you have to. (A former pressman talking here  )

Especially if you don’t use many cards. Office Depot prints 50 full-color cards by the next day for like $10.

I have to say, it irritates me when people ask me to scan something on their phone. Invariably it goes somewhere where I have to take some sort of action, and it takes me out of the conversation.

That, and if I wait, sometimes the info disappears. Somebody gave me a QR code that went to their LinkedIn as we were going separate ways, and by the time my phone got logged in to LinkedIn the phone had completely lost the contact in the huge mess of redirects.

If it works for you, that’s great. Just an alternate perspective.

I understand completely. My problem is that I always forget to bring business cards. My primary use for the QR cards is to add them to a slide when presenting to a large audience. :slightly_smiling_face:
