I’m sure Quick Look has changed it’s operation recently and I’m not a fan and wondered if there was a setting somewhere that had been changed without me knowing about it.
When I used to use quicklook on a PDF or image, it would show the actual file. Now I get a small thumbnail and additional information - except, I don’t want that information, I just want the photo! The screenshot shows how the item is working now.
For me, Quick Look still works normally (Monterey 12.1).
Right click a jpg file (or pdf) and look at the “Open with…” to see what application the default is set to. Maybe it is something that is not supported by QL. The image you are showing is what happens on my Mac when the default app does not support QL.
Check one thing: if you are using files on a cloud service that are not fully downloaded when you “quick look” into them, you may get an info panel. I have experienced that. Otherwise, Quick Look works like normal. Maybe take a screenshot of something and once it’s saved execute a Quick Look and see if it works as normal. Beyond that, I’m not sure why Quick Look wouldn’t be displaying your files in the way you would expect it to.
Not sure if that worked - I tried it but that didn’t seem to work, but then I did the standard troubleshooting item I should tried first, turning it off and on again! Once I restarted, it worked fine.
@iPersuade - I’d noticed that, so the file shown above was stored on a local drive, as I use Onedrive a lot.
I potentially put it down to either installing Adobe the other day (though thinking about it, I’m sure that’s been on my system for a while) or the Scansnap software.
I’ve seen this exact behaviour since installing Monterey. I don’t know what causes it, but I cure it every time by relaunching Finder. Press Cmd-Opt-Esc, click on Finder and then the Relaunch button. (On any other app the button says Force Quit.)
