I work in Compliance which can seem, at times, like a thankless task.
When I get positive feedback from colleagues and others and I carefully save what is said for those moments when I need a boost.
I currently use the Citator app which allows me to add “quotes”, the Author, and the date. These can then be surfaced in a rotating manner via widgets. I love the functionality of the app, except for one thing. (wow that sounds clickbaity)
I’ve been using it for a few years, but the Dev promised iCloud sync as a forthcoming feature (I know, I know, never buy software based on future features) but hasn’t delivered and I want the Sync to protect the quotes (I also have them elsewhere) and to see the same on my iPad.
Is anyone using something similar or has anyone seen anything. It’s the ability to store What was said, who said it and the date it was said along with the app rotating those quotes so I don’t manually have to do anything but add new ones across multiple Apple platforms.
I do exactly the same thing. My approach is simple: I copy the information, paste it into Drafts, add the name, date, and a title, then save it to my “Encouragement” folder. Everything syncs, and the content is preserved in plain text.
Bear has a widget that will randomly show the content of a note. Bear is not specifically designed for quotes—it’s a flexible, markdown-based notes app, but you can could keep quotes, along with accompanying information, in a note. The app runs and syncs across all Apple devices.
I actually do use Bear for quotes, as I find it very easy to work with and I like that it works (and syncs) reliably across all my devices.
@Bmosbacker mentioned Drafts, which also has a widget to show the content of a draft. However, I don’t think the widget would randomly change the content, but given the customizability of Drafts, I wouldn’t rule it out. One thing I do like about the Drafts widget is you can adjust the font size of the text you see in the widget, which can be useful.
The app Thoughts (Thoughts - Quotes Manager on the App Store) might fit the bill. You can surface the text snippets (quotes or thoughts) in a widget on your screen along with the author.
I use Cheatsheet for a similar reason. The “Random” widget pulls a random quote from within a specific folder I designated, and rotates through them at an interval of my choice (there are several intervals to choose from). Cheatsheet sticky notes
