Raycast just launched their Focus feature to allow you to start a timeboxing/pomodoro session with a declared goal and app/website blocking for the duration (similar to Extremely Studios’ Focus app).
It currently only works with Chrome/Safari/Webkit/Chromium browsers, and doesn’t (yet?) have things like site whitelists, but I thought it was pretty cool.
And for completeness, figured I’d mention Brett Terpstra’s Bunch as another app that’s vaguely in this space, where you can use it to put your computer in a “mode” (with some apps launched, others quit) for specific tasks, and it can integrate with the macOS’ Focus feature.

While I’m not officially aligned in any way with this wonderful site, I feel compelled to award you, @laptopllama, on behalf of everyone here, the MPU award for best (and most ironic) user name.

Even though I was attempting to figure out how to change my username to laptopllama, I gratefully accept the award
. I will treasure it and hang it on my emoji wall.

I’m trying it on a work computer without blocking anything. The always-on-top timer is nicely done - perfect size and amount of information, and the colors are okay. I’ve tried a lot of focusing apps over the years; most fail here.
(An always-on-top countdown timer for Apple’s focus modes would be neat.)
