I’ve been using a 10 year old MBA for my infrequent extended travel and for occasional presentations. Just got a great deal on a M1 MBP and need a dongle for it. Primary need is for HDMI to the projector for my presentations but I’d like to have additional ports like an A and C. Anybody found one that really like?
While I prefer using my M1 iMac at my desk I’m really liking the display on the MBP. Way better than the old Air.
Based on what you have provided above here are some suggestions:
1 - I’d avoid Thunderbolt 3/4 or USB4 hubs/docks, will be an over investment given the requirements.
2 - Almost all docks that you purchase will have HDMI out and a mix of USB-C and USB-A ports, so it’s more about your quality v cost thinking.

Exactly what I was looking for. I’ve been happy with my other Satechi products so got it ordered. You’re right about not needing a Thunderbolt dock like the Caldigit as I don’t plan on using it with an external display or as a desktop replacement.
Got it ordered but the space gray was out of stock so went with silver.

Hope you enjoy your M1 MBP, it is truely a wonder of technology that will service you well for many years to come. I’m honestly not sure that 95% of the population need to consider anything else.
Dongle came in today. Hooked it up to my TV and display worked perfectly. Also nice to have all the other ports. It also works with my iPad.
I’m really loving the screen on the MBP. So much better than my old Air.
