Reinstalling Yosemite

I’ve just got an old mid 2011 iMac out of our loft and would like to use it again. I’ve booted into recovery mode and erased the hard drive. Now, I would like to reinstall the OS to start afresh.

I tried the ‘Reinstall MacOS’ option but it connects to Apple’s servers and says that “A required download is missing”. I’m guessing that the Yosemite download is no longer available!

Does anyone have any ideas how I can install a copy of Yosemite, or the latest supported version of Mac OS (possibly High Sierra), now that the machine has been wiped?

Thanks!

Here is an Apple support page for High Sierra with a download link: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208969.

Thank you - I’ve just made a bootable USB and am installing now.
