Remarkable Paper Pro Move

Very interesting new form factor for the Remarkable Paper Pro. The Move.

I use my RPP a lot. This new size is pricey for sure … but …

I’m not sure the small form factor allows for anything other than shorter notes.

I have the reMarkable 2 which I got second hand from a friend for a knock down price. I love it and use it regularly during the work day to make notes about things I need to speak to others at work about (I have Notebooks for all of the people I interact with on a regular basis) and for a couple of my group meetings. Also for taking notes in meetings.

I also use it for my daily ToDo list which I compile the evening before from OmniFocus as part of my daily planning.

Before I got the RM2 I would have pads and notebooks on the go and would end up with things all over the place until I’d finished with them, I was regularly searching for the perfect daily planner, I’ve now made it on the RM.

On the Paper Pro, I love the form factor (if not the aspect ratio, but more on that in a minute), and if I was more mobile I would be seriously tempted (even at the price) but as I largely work from home now and only go into the office a day a week at most, the RM2 is great.

The narrow aspect ratio wouldn’t work for me, I already regularly run out of space side to side, and I think it’s strange that the aspect ratio on the RMPP and the RMPPM are not the same, it would seem that this would make it more difficult to use the same documents on the two different devices, but what would I know :man_shrugging:

The Remarkable community seems really excited about it and I’ve seen a lot of “already ordered” comments in various groups.

A friend of mine has ordered one to go with his RMPP, so I’ll have a look soon, but at this moment I’m not about to buy one.

That’s the idea. It’s about the size of a reporter’s notebook, and intended to be handheld like a paper notebook.

I’d see the ideal use case for this being the way that someone like @ismh86 uses FieldNotes, but digital in an analogue way.

Yes, it’s $449 with the stylus/pen and you could buy a lot of biros and notebooks with the same money, plus your notebook would never run out of battery, but it’s handy if you do a lot of writing on the move.

This device is ALMOST perfect.
If Kobo made this form factor it would be an instabuy.

I’m a big reMarkable fan, prefer rM2 over rMPP. Like newly released Move but pricing is way too much. Rather keep rMPP.

Use shorthand to fit more notes in!

My rMPPM arrived today. 365g with the leather cover and marker plus. A bit of heft. Not what I’d consider pocketable, but I don’t like stuff in my pockets anyway. It feels good to carry around as a notebook for handwritten notes, which is my intent for getting it. Not a device I will use for reading PDFs.

Does anyone have one of these and using it for journaling? Or does the skinny aspect make it a bit uncomfortable in terms of words per line? I have a Kindle Scribe but I never want to put it in a bag.

I have one and use it for daily reflection and review. It is purse-sized, and I carry it with me everywhere I go, more so than my 11” iPad Pro.

Can I ask 6+ months on if anyone who bought the RPPM, if you are still using it daily and if you would still recommend it. I’m using a RM2.

I don’t use my RPPM daily. It is mainly for jotting reading notes, which is a rather limited case for an expensive tool. reMarkable, the company, recently cut staff 40% including the CEO. I’m not optimistic about long-term support for what I own.

Still using mine daily. Journaling, work notes and thinking. I occasionally wish I’d bought the larger one, but then I travel and throw this one into a bag and remember why I bought the smaller Move.

I don’t like companies that cut significant numbers of staff either, it’s become far too common that companies jettison staff for short term reasons because it’s easier than doing the hard but decent thing of letting natural staff turnover bring them to where they need to be.

When I’ve ever offered a job to someone, I’ve always thought of it as a 5 year appointment to set expectations for budgeting.

On reMarkable, I love my RM2 and I hope that they are here to stay. I’m not overly optimistic, but I’m not pessimistic either.
