I just today discovered templates in reminders.
Templates seem great (at least at first glance), but I know I will need to update them with tasks I’ll add to the lists I create from the template.
Is there a way to get all the tasks that are in a list that are not in a template?
(I don’t want to create a new template from the lists. I plan to use this for packing lists, so I will instantiate the template and delete all tasks that are not relevant for the current trip.)
I use a template for my packing list, too. When I am working on an instance of it (i.e. a list created from the template) and I realise something needs to be added, I have a quick think on whether it should always be there and then go and edit the template right away (usually on a different device to avoid losing context).
The other option — if you haven’t checked anything off, I suspect — is to create a new template and delete the old.
In my situation neither applies. I share the list, so I cannot have a “trigger” on adding new reminders. And the list has specific sections (eg beach) which I delete some of after instantiation.
My best idea so far is to store the template somewhere else (I don’t have to share the template, only the list), and then use automation to instantiate the template and to get the diff.
