Remove apps from Cmd+Tab

On the iPad, is there a way to remove applications from the switcher (I’m not sure what it’s called) when you press Cmd+Tab? I can remove apps from the switcher with the control center but not this one.

(Please don’t tell explain to me that it’s a bad idea to close apps. It’s a matter of attention. Sometimes when I’m working on something, it helps my focus to have my Cmd+Tab only have the 2-3 apps I’m using at the moment.)
