Running Claude Code on my Ipad - with obsidian

I am sitting in my lounge on a Sunday afternoon, tapping away at my 13 inch iPad Pro, working with Obsidian in one screen, and Claude Code in another.

Claude Code is remotely connected to my MacStudio at the other end of the house, and it’s doing all the comms back and forth with a terminal session, which I know little about. This is a new Claude feature, fresh off the press. A tiny little bit flakey, but give it a couple of weaks.

I’ve mentioned this before, but I’m rewriting my 73,000 business novel, as a 25,000 word version that’s much, much faster to read.

And, in many ways, it’s better.

The text of the full version, and the new condensed version, are in .md files, sitting in an icloud Obsidian vault. I’m reading the obsidian files on my iPad, using obsidian, and Claude is working on the text files on the MacStudio.

This is sooooo cool! What a joyful way to work.

I can’t wait to share my new faster, snappier version of the book with even more people

Hope this helps some of you. It’s a lovely way to work.

Neat. No split screen? That’s how I typically work with these things: code generation window on the left, live-updating review tool on the right. Sometimes there’s a bad action movie in the corner.

Oh, that’s actually a really good question.

I think I should probably do that.

One thing I forgot to mention is that I actually have Superwhisper running as well as the keyboard so that I can dictate.

And another thing that just occurred to me is that I’m actually on a bike ride right now and I am loving that I can take short bursts of cycling, pull over, and then check in to see how Claude is doing. It’s doing a lot of step by step stuff and I have to keep answering questions or telling it to move on.

Three similar workflows that you could use:

  • Using Github + Github Copilot
Add your .md files to a github repo
Install the Github app on your phone
Use the “Agent” feature to work on a specific file

  • Using VS Code + OpenRouter**
    Open your Obsidian folder
Ask your selected AI to work work on a specific file
*Note 1: Don’t know how to check how it’s doing from a phone
**Note 2: You could replace OpenRouter for Github Copilot

  • Using Obsidian + Obsidian Copilot
Install the extension, and add any LLM
    Ask it to work

Cool! I have been planning to do something similar with a new experiment but wasn’t sure how well it would work. Thanks for sharing the proof of concept!
