Has anyone tried to use a Samsung X5 with Apple’s Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter? I am considering it as an option instead of breaking apart my old mac mini to install an ssd. This should be faster than anything I can put inside it.
Whelp. So much for that idea. It didn’t work. It looks like the drive does not receive power; the little white power light does not come on and the System Report does not show any connected TB devices. The drive is functional on systems with native TB3 support, including my Macbook Pro and Hackintosh/Windows box.
