Scrap Note: looks useful

I just came across this app over on reddit. I thought it might be useful for those who use Apple Notes

The the benefit is that it replaces Quick Notes. You can type your quick thoughts and then decide if you want send it into notes or not, thereby preventing the build up of notes cruft.

It has a built in shortcut to send it to Notes

Here is the reddit conversation

The App store link ‎Quick Scrap Note on the Mac App Store

I have nothing to do with this app, just thought some here might find it useful.

Hey! Thanks for posting about it here.
I am the developer for Scrap Note and it was nice to see people using it

Since that Reddit thread, I have added additional features:

  • URL scheme support so I can use Popclip to send text to Scrap Note.
  • On top of sending to Notes, I find it useful to be able to send text to Reminders
  • Multiple pages support (inspire by Tots) and background colors.
  • I find myself needing to copy stuff from Word or Excel into plain text and previously, I use TextEdit to accept the text. I can now do it in Scrap Note.

I am happy to hear if MPU community have any comment/feedback.

It did cross my mind as I saw the made in Malaysia sign. Well done, great little app.

I have updated this app with an additional 5 slots for power users to “save” the scrap notes into other apps such as CotEditor, Things, Files, etc - so long as these apps support Apple Shortcuts, it should be able to do it.

Even though @iApple is using Tots, he gave me a suggestion to have a side bar, and here it is! Update from Mac App Store to get it:

Just dl’d the app. Looks promising. Is it possible to make it so the shortcuts app doesn’t actually have to launch to run the ‘save to notes’ shortcut?

A more popular alternative: Antinote.

As far as I know, the Shortcuts app will opened whenever a .shortcut file is run.

Okay. Fair enough. I’ve submitted a bug report to you thru your form about something odd that was happening.

Ah, so that was you. I have just responded. Let’s talk via email. Thank you.

Just added a tiny enhancement: I called a customer in his landline. We chatted a bit. Then he asked me if I had his mobile and I said no. He gave me. I did a ⌃ Space to pop up Scrap Note to write it down but there was a wall of text. I got disjointed a bit and asked him to repeat. I would very much prefer if Scrap Note opened with an empty page. And so, I made that happen.

Now, after 5 minutes (configurable) of being inactive/hidden/minimized, it will create an empty scrap note upon activating the app window, ready to accept input. By default, this is set to “Never”, so, it behaves as it is.
