but is it support if it never arrives? ![]()
I got an update. I believe he is saying that if you bought Screenflow in the App Store, you will not get 10.5… You will need to wait for the new version (11?). Someone read over my shoulder and see if I am missing anything.
Thanks for reaching out.
We are on ScreenFlow 10.5, but this is a free update. It may be best to wait for a paid upgrade to move over from Mac App Store.
There is not an upgrade path from 10 to 10.5 available.
Ok I replied with a simple “Will the Mac App Store version receive the 10.5 update?” This came back.
It will be at some point. It’s a process to get the update accepted and available on the MAS. I asked the Product Manager last week and he advised “in progress”.
I played with FocusSee on Setapp. It’s a bit of a cheat you think you’re getting the real app, instead it’s the 1.6 version and the real app is at 2.x.
It felt like bait and switch
Back in the saddle on this, several followups.
- ScreenStudio, FocusSee and WonderShare - I looked at both tools, the weakness your face is baked into the video stream. Since my material is a mixture of face to camera and slides with me in the corner they don’t work. If you can live with the constraint these seem like good tools.
- ScreenFlow Telestream - I want to love these people but boy do they make it hard. In my first recording, I set the tool up to record on three tracks: Video InstaLink; Audio - Rode; Video Screen. In spite of the settings, it recorded audio from my InstaLink which is wrong. I can see a work around if I needed, still I reached out for pre-sales support. I figured this would be a good test, is it worth paying for both the app and support. I’ve sent two emails and nothing. RED FLAG - if you’re considering Telestream, buyer beware.
- Camtasia - it’s expensive but at least it is technical capable and gets updates. It even has a community.
I might record on Mac using OBS Studio and output three files. My operations manager will likely edit using Camtasia. As to ScreenFlow - I had hopes.
Thanks to @timstringer @MacSparky @macsorcery and others for helping Mac users sort through this.
Screenflow 10.5.1 is now in the AppStore bringing it up to date with their website download version.
