Just found that in Fantastical on iPadOS you can handwrite something in the calendar view (e.g. in week view I scribbled “lunch” on Thursday 13:00) and you get the new event interface with the words you scribbled inserted in the event field.
Maybe you already knew this but I found it wonderful 
Side note, in Apple’s own calendar app the pencil just moves the interface around…
