This is a really sad news. I learned AppleScript thanks to Script Debugger, and I’m using it almost everyday since then.
This gem should be saved somehow.

This gem should be saved somehow.
Sad indeed. Amazing that it has been around for 30 years.
Open sourcing it would seem to be the best route to save it but the FAQ says they do not have permission to release all of the code.
I’ve used Script Debugger for 20 years, and never had to ask Shane for support. It’s solid as rock. I’m confident it will continue working faultlessly for the near future.

Agreed for the “near” future
But it seems inevitable that Apple will introduce some new “feature” of MacOS which will eventually break non-maintained apps.
Yes, that’s what I’m afraid of too.
That’s indeed very sad news. Script Debugger is hands down one of the best apps the Mac has to offer.
Script Debugger’s value explorers which allow you to dynamically inspect (and even change) the objects and properties offered by a scriptable application are indispensable for me. It‘s such a useful and impressive feature that I wouldn’t know what to do without it.
I wish Mark & Shane all the best. Their work as well as their contributions to the scripting related forums is truly appreciated. I‘ve learned so much from them.
We each have our own inevitable demises. Including Apple.

With Apple on a path to possibly achieving a $4 trillion market cap, your statement might make a very interesting discussion topic.
I wrote “inevitable”, not “soon”. Apple is not eternal.

My mistake, sorry.
I’ve seen a lot of large companies, “household names”, that no longer exist. I even met someone who worked in the C suite of a very large car company, that was gobbled up many years later. Nothing surprises me anymore.
