Default Folder X

Many years ago, I used to use Default Folder and like it, for what it was. Now I’m curious, are many of you using it? What do you like/love about it? How exactly are you using it? I looked at buying a license for it today, and was floored by the price. $35!? Is there something magical about this app that I’m not understanding? It’s just a Open/Save dialog box enhancement, right? Am I missing something here? Why is this app so expensive?
