Edit: Solved I found the installer in the applications folder.
I have an old 5K intel iMac that I want to pass onto my parents. A little experiment to see how they get on using a Mac coming from a steam powered Dell machine. It’ll be used for email and browsing the web.
It’s been wiped and is currently running Yosemite 10.10.5, but I think it should be able to run Monterey. I was planning to incrementally update the OS putting El Capitan on first. However the package dmgs that I’m downloading from Apple Support pages which are about 5GB open up install something that takes about 2 mins to install, but it’s definitely not El Capitan.
Can anyone help, what is the best way and process to get this Mac up to Monterey?
