[Solved] HomeKit notification on iPad but not on the iPhone

Solved this issue after a lot of trial and error as I couldn’t find the solution on Google - so I thought I would share.
Our doorbell and smart lock didn’t generate HomeKit notifications on either on our phones, despite getting them on the Apple TV, HomePod Mini and both our iPads.
Rebooting, re-pairing, etc didn’t solve the problem so I ended up resetting the iPhone settings (Settings, General, Reset or Transfer iPhone, Reset settings), and that solved it.
Lots of settings are reset though, including some you wouldn’t expect (eg Country).
Unexpected positive: the phone somehow feels like new, with many notifications about functionality I didn’t remember was there (or settings were carried over from previous iOS versions but became more granular over time)
