Start music on HomePods from Stream Deck?

As far as I can tell, if I want to start an Apple Music playlist on my HomePods from my Stream Deck I need to:

  • create a HomeKit scene to start the music
  • create a Shortcut to run the scene
  • trigger the scene from Stream Deck

There has to be a simpler way, especially if it want to have say 10 playlists available?

TIL HomeKit scenes include music??

I currently use an app called HomeControl which provides a URL scheme to perform any HomeKit action (that you can also select from its menus). With this, I can simply invoke a URL from the Stream Deck and the magic (usually) happens. This at least would cut all the Shortcuts out of the mix, as you are directly addressing HomeKit.
