Swapping Docks with Focus Modes

Just a random thought with WWDC right around the corner. It would be a cool feature to allow for different dock configurations on Mac like how we are able to swap homescreens on iPhone. What do you think is the likelihood that we get a feature similar to this?

I’d love to be able to change the dock on iPhone and iPadOS, based on Focus Modes.

I think that’s a great idea.

This would be incredible! Not being able to has kept me from keeping apps I want to access in the Dock since I don’t want them in some Focus Modes. How likely do I think it is? Sadly, very unlikely.

I really like this idea. I think it also kind of lines up with what Casey talked about on the recent episode of ATP. Basically Focus Modes are awesome, but they could be much more powerful. Right now a Focus Mode can be told to display a certain home screen, but that makes me have tons of screens when I don’t have a focus mode active.

Instead, it would be nice to just be able to set the home screen and dock per focus mode, if desired. So I could edit my focus mode, pick a few apps (both on the home screen and dock) and be on my way.

Hey! I just noticed a thread.
There is a paid macOS app for this reason if anyone is still trying to find one:

It follows focus mode of macOS and when focus mode is ON - it let’s you keep only those apps in dock that are needed for your focus work. When you turn off focus mode - the dock items returns to original ones : )
