Just when you think youâve got your budget figured out, inflation kicks you while youâre down again. One of the reasons I went with T-Mobile was because I thought they wouldnât raise prices. Wasnât that their whole thing when John Legrene was CEO?
I guess their âUnlimitedâ campaign meant price increases, too.
I could swear prices were guaranteed as long as you kept your plan. We got T-Mobile One 55+ plan in January 2018. However using the Internet Wayback Machine I captured this of the feature description:
But the URL contains âT-Mobile_ONE_for_Age_55_Plus___2_Unlimited_Lines_for__60_Mo__For_Lifeâ so is the URL binding? Class action suit??
I jumped to Visible+ today because of this. I was on Magenta 55+ with a phone and Apple Watch. Visible+ will save me $22/month over what my new rate was going to be.
(In fairness to TMo, even at the new rates theyâd be less than AT&T or Verizon. Still.)
Been with T-Mo for years now but has become a completely different company since John Legere left and Sprint merger.
Agreed. I found Legereâs style a bit obnoxious, but I liked what he was doing.
Theyâre still generally more competitively priced than the other two major carriers. And not all plans got hit. A couple I know who are on Magenta Max 55+ arenât getting hit with the price hike. Their payment to TMo currently includes device payments, and theyâre still paying less than they used to pay AT&T just for service.
But for me, it was time to move. TMoâs free MLB.tv used to make the difference between them and MVNOs pretty much a wash, but now changing carriers means I can save to pay for my baseball fix myself and still come out ahead. ÂŻ\(ă)/ÂŻ
Thats nice that they arenât charging more for the 55+ plus. Iâm on the first responder/veteran plan and they raised my prices. As long as they continue to provide a good service and donât raise my prices for another 10 years, Iâm ok with it.
They do have good service.
Some 55+ plans did get hit with the hike. So far itâs looking like Magenta did, but Magenta Max didnât.
I think they only raised prices on the most basic version of each plan. Those with more premium versions or the latest plans didnât get a price increase. However people on those plans already pay more!
I like several options from NVMOs but none seems to offer AppleWatch cellular options.
There are a few that do. I went with Visible. Iâd tried them a few years back, but they were a bit of a hassle. Their pricing is much simpler now. Their Visible+ plan includes Apple Watch service.
Apple has a list of carriers that support Apple Watch. There are a few MVNOs on there, though in a couple of cases availability will depend on your ISP.
