Text Comparison iPad app

Does anyone have recommendations for apps on the iPad which allow comparison of text to highlight differences between two sets. This is something I need to do irregularly.

I’ve found a decent app called Compare Text, you copy the two sets of text into two separate boxes and it shows the two sets of input and a combined version showing in red what was removed and in green what was added.

The app is free with Ads but I’ve seen 5 lots of adds in less than 10 minutes and it’s REALLY annoying, it seems that when I switch apps, it plays ads every time I return. The only other option is a subscription at £2.99 a week, £4.99 a month or £14.99 a year. I can’t justify those fees unfortunately for the amount I’ll use it.

I don’t mind buying outright, paying a one time unlock, or paying a reasonable annual subscription. But £14.99 doesn’t reflect the amount of use I will get out of it.

Any apps would be optimised on the iPad (i.e. not a blown up iPhone app)

Thanks in advance

If you do not manage to find an app, you can ask ChatGPT to do that. Tell it you will provide two texts, and ask that it should return both texts, marking the differences with asterisks or in bold.

Thanks, Some of this work includes personal information, so I’d much prefer to keep it local and in my own control.

So, another idea… There is (apparently – as I haven’t used it) a file diff plugin for Obsidian (perhaps there are also other similar plugins), which would keep everything local, though you’d have to paste the texts into Obsidian.

Thanks Dario, I will have a look at this.

I’d have to paste the text into somewhere.

I just realised that as I start most writing in Drafts, there may be something there too.

If you are dealing with just plain text, I think there is a diff app for ipad. I’ve never tried it, but I’ve heard of it:
