The letter of the year is E - Need Lamb Names

So every year we have to change the start letter for the lamb names. This year it’s “E”

I have both Start Wars and Star Trek lineages in the flock. In general we prefer Sci Fi Names.

Based on thesheep ultrasound result we are expecting about 51 lambs. Best guess approximately half and half rams and ewes.

The primary rams used for breeding and sires of most of the lambs (based on the ultrasound results) are Abban and Bruce. Bruce has a brown ear (hence the name).

Backup boys were Bad Wolf and Bravo. But between them if the US tech is correct there are only 5 lambs expected from them, 4 by Bad Wolf including a set of triplets out of Circe and 1 from Caora and a set of twins by Bravo.

So… Any top suggestions?

Egon, if you don’t mind a sheep that’s potentially smart.

Tolkien had a thing for names that started with E:

  • Eärendil
  • Elendil
  • Elrond
  • Éomer
  • Éowyn

Others:

  • Emhyr (The Witcher)
  • Ezra (Star Wars: Rebels)
  • Ezri (Deep Space Nine)
  • Elnor (Star Trek: Picard)
  • Eddard (Game of Thrones, though if you name a ram this he won’t make it to the end of the first book/season)
  • Erebus (Greek mythology, appropriate for a black sheep)
  • Eros (Greek mythology)
  • Ēostre (Germanic mythology)
  • Ector (Arthurian legend)
  • Elric (of Melniboné)
  • Epona (Roman mythology)

Lots of biblical options:

  • Elijah
  • Elisha
  • Enoch
  • Esau
  • Esther
  • Eve
  • Ezekiel

EDIT: Spoiler follows if you haven’t yet gotten around to reading The Time Machine, published 127 years ago or so.

Weren’t the Eloi the doomed lotus eaters in HG Wells’ Time Machine? The ones preyed on by the subterranean Morlocks.

Eratosthenes

Not sci-fi, but how many chances do you get to use Eratosthenes?

Here are some of Asimov’s names, gleaned from this website.

Yep and also have some other fan sites that hav lots o fnames btu I alwayslike to see what bubbles to the top that several folks suggest and like

One suggestion from my engineer husband is

Elanor
Elanand
Elanot

for logic gates Maybe one of the sets of triplets? Yeah I know most folks won’t get it.

And of course Electric Sheep (maybe a relative of Cyber Ewe Control?

ok the Enoch from Agents of Shield or Enoch from Cliford D. Simak’s Way Station? If the former I bet ihe would be a long lived ram, if the latter it could be “interesting”

Thanks, I was in the process of digging out my Heinlein and pouring over the books again for those. Yep, Sure need an Edith Stone

Probably should be related to the lamb named Diogenes from last year

Not always a good thing to name sheep after smart individuals. I have enough problems with smart sheep now! But added just because it’s a great idea
