I’m confused as to why you would drop 2k on this device after reading the comments on your other thread about IpadOS and all its weaknesses. There was over 170 comments about how the OS is lacking, doesn’t perform well, doesn’t do everything perfectly, blah, blah. Some even called the IPad Pro a failed product. Until people step up and say, “I’ll buy that device AFTER Apple fixes all the issues”, Apple will gladly continue to accept your money.
All these posts about IOS and IPad Pro make me chuckle.
When it comes to Apple’s branding, “Pro” just means more expensive with more features and processing performance. I’m very happy with my iPhone 15 Pro Max, but what’s a “pro” phone user?
It’s up to everyone to figure out what they need to do what they need to do and pick devices that can do it, and not put too much stock in the labels companies like Apple use to brand and differentiate their various models.
That is a fair critique of what I wrote. I should have been more specific. For me, it is an ideal writing environment in that it is easier for me to focus, it is lighter, the screen is superior, and I can type or use the pencil. It is also less intrusive when taking meeting notes. Moreover, when I’m done writing my presentation notes, I can remove the tablet from the keyboard and use it on the podium when giving a presentation. That said, organizing and publishing a large, complex project is harder on the iPad. This is part of my dilemma. This is why I may still have an MBA or Mac mini for specialized tasks if I go the iPad route.
That all makes sense. I hope it all works out well for you!
Thank you, I’ll check it out. Much appreciated.
export your notes from Apple Notes
Indeed, I’m not sure how to solve that issue.
You can use the Obsidian’s official Importer plugin. Then you can move or copy them wherever you want.
Edit: I just noticed the help page says it only works on macOS, but the plugin is available for installation in the mobile app, and it usually says “This plugin does not support your device” when a plugin doesn’t work on mobile.
Good questions, I added your questions and my responses to my original post.
Wow, I had no idea I was so sophisticated! I should apply for a grant!
That is very kind of you! I’ll reach if I have a question I can’t figure out, but I’ll be careful not to abuse your time.
Thanks I’ll check it out!
The share sheet in Apple Notes on iPad will let you open a note in Pages. Or tap Markup to create a PDF, then Done to save the file. In some cases, for example if the note contains handwriting, you can create an image that will be saved in Photos.
Now we know what’s behind the creation of a digital full focus planner
Great to seee you Michael.
I find the only thing I have trouble with is excel - and the Mac version isn’t really better. I remote into a work PC for it.
Wow, now I know I’m in good company! Keep us posted on how it goes and I will do the same.
I’d bet there could be some interesting findings on a study of iPad vs Macbook’s effect on leadership styles!
Or the effect of leaders’ personalities and styles on the choice of tools.
Definitely following this - I’ve been trialling going iPad only for the last couple of weeks with the plan of streamlining my mobile devices and going solely with the M4 iPad.
Be sure to share you experience, it is helpful to compare notes.
There is a way, as of recently, because Carbon Copy Cloner launched for iOS/iPadOS. It’s not perfect, it’s v1, but it least it’s there, and will back up Photos or files from selected folders to an external drive on the iPad.
That is good news, I’ll check this out! Thanks!
