Thinking about building a Markdown editor for macOS and iOS

Gotcha. That makes sense. It like most apps says can open external folder but just because folder is viewable in files app doesn’t mean it’s seen as an “external folder” however, so it’s a no go.

Agreed, the nice thing about Ulysses is that you can use their library system and the corresponding Ulysses’ flavor of markdown and the other features AND access an external folder of plain text files. A bit of the “best of both worlds.”

It would work, in theory, but Ulysses does weird things with the square brackets syntax and I think it looks bad. It basically looks like [[link]]. I get they’re escaping the square brackets, but I don’t like it.

You can go to the preferences screen and customize your markdown syntax.

Yes, but Ulysses doesn’t recognize this syntax as a form of Markdown. It doesn’t support wiki links at all.

I really don’t have a problem to solve here, FWIW. I’d love to see Ulysses add wiki links, but my combination of Obsidian and iA took me a long time to land on and get comfortable with. I’m good with it. But I wouldn’t recommend it for most people.
