I would love to eliminate lightning cables from my life—only have a phone and air-pod pro 2 to go. I’ve seen some tempting prices-on eBay (Apple used) and Amazon (3rd party). This is not a life-defining issue obviously but what are your thoughts?
Just a question - how old are your AirPods Pro? Amazon probably offers returns, but if you’re talking about $30 or $40 for a case (no idea how much they are - just guessing) and your AirPods batteries are declining, you might find yourself wanting to replace them en toto sooner rather than later.
I almost never charge my AirPod Pro with a cable, usually just wireless.
+1
AirPods are my most expensive “subscription” The fact that they still use lightning doesn’t bother me.
I got lucky with my current pair, one failed after a year or so and Apple replaced both because they were part of a bad batch.
Why not charge them wirelessly instead. You can pick up a reputable charger relatively cheaply and remove the headache.
Very good point. Mine are working fine and I also have a pair of ‘regulars’ that I keep near the bed (don’t have to worry about them falling out). The only magnetic charger I have is dedicated to my watch (on my nightstand).
One thing I do to extend the life is I have a pair of SoundCore earbuds that I wear for exercise and gardening. Not cheap cheap but then I don’t get perspiration on my Air-pods.
Incidentally, if you’re in the US, I’m seeing this for $12 off right now, which makes it about $20 -
It’s what I personally have for next to the bed. Does wireless for the Airpods, charges the Watch, and charges the phone via MagSafe. All the charging circuitry is built-in, so you don’t have to add your own chargers.
Works pretty well for me.
