Tips for better reading on iPad?

Anybody uses their iPad as their primary reading device? Do you do anything to limit Blue-Light and Eye strain? Do you limit apps and notifications for sustained reading? Seriously considering an iPad mini as a reader/handheld gaming console/notebook but Ive always struggled with sustained reading. Any tips?

Yes, absolutely.

I use the “Accessibility Shortcut” in System Settings. Three taps on the power switch and I have Color Filters apply a red light filter.

I have no notifications and turn on the red thing, particularly at night. Also have a shortcut that turns everything to black and white (or inverted). Dark mode works best for me.

I generally tend not to have any notifications on any of the two iPads – no banners whatsoever, and I only leave badges for a couple of apps where I want just a visual cue that something is going on – and you can also use focus modes to create a reading focus mode where you will limit this even further. You can also use a focus mode to create a custom home screen (for example, with all the reading apps and no other distractions).
