Transferring music from an old iPod to my new 16 Pro iPhone

Hello Friends,
I’m reposting this because I think it got swallowed up in the recent invasion of the website.

I’m looking for advice about transferring a bunch of music from an old iPod with a 30-pin charging cable so I can listen to it on my new iPhone 16 Pro. I don’t have a saved music library on my phone or laptop. None of the music was purchased on iTunes–it was all burned from CDs and maybe was transferred through iTunes onto the device back when people did that.

My research suggests that using a third party app might be easiest, especially if I want to scrape up any metadata. But there are a lot of services out there, and the prices vary quite a bit. So first, can anyone recommend one they’ve used?

Second, what happens to the music once it’s imported onto my new phone? Does it live in a separate library or playlist on Apple Music? Or do I need a third party app to listen because I didn’t purchase it through Apple? I’m not a super-sensitive audiophile, but I’m also curious about the quality overall.

Thanks much,
–P

I think iMazing could do the transfer off the iPod but others might know better. To transfer music onto your iPhone, you can sync it by plugging the phone into your Mac, finding it in Finder, trusting it, then going to the Music tab. Or iMazing could do it. It’ll all be playable from the Music app on your iPhone and should preserve the quality and metadata.

To copy the music from the iPod to a computer, use SENUTI and then connect your phone to the computer and transfer it over. The Music (formerly iTunes) app will let you sync everything correctly. I am not aware of any direct connection options to achieve your goals.
