Trouble entering password on Apple Watch

My watch wants me to enter my password but it begins with a lowercase w and I can’t figure out how to get the fingerwriting to recognize the difference between upper and lowercase and the watch is capitalizing the first letter automatically. I also can’t figure out how to go back a letter once I’ve typed the first.

Is the only solution to this to change my password?

After you write the letter, tap the capital letter, then scroll the crown to get lowercase and some other options.

Brilliant! I also figured out the crown lets you traverse other letters in the string if you don’t have a letter selected. Thanks as always for your help @cornchip!
