Turning off Find my Mac on Sold MacBook Pro

Hi Guys, I have sold my MacBook Pro on eBay and done fresh install of Catalina before sending but the MacBook is still showing up on my iCloud account.

I don’t want give my password to the buyer to remove for obvious reasons.

Is there a way to remove it from my account remotely so he can register it to his iCloud Account ?

Many Thanks in advance

The Apple ID account management portal should let you remove your devices - sign in, select the device that you want to remove from underneath the Devices section, and then click or tap Remove From Account.

unfortunately that doesn’t permanently remove the macbook. the new owner keeps getting prompted to sign out using my apple id and password.

it will appear back up again on find my mac app

If this doesn’t work, contact Apple.

See this info at the bottom of the website @bowline posted - probably what you want.

If you no longer have a device (Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple Watch) because you gave it away or sold it, you need to remotely erase it before you can remove it. See Remotely erase a device.
