In the latest edition of MacWorld there is an article that the author states that IOS 18 has a feature that allows users to turn off the ability to click hyperlinks in Messages. He, however, did not explain where to find the setting. Is this true and , if so, where does this setting reside? I couldn’t find it.
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Scroll down and tap on “Messages.”
- Toggle on "Filter Unknown Senders.

Thanks Barrett. Filter Unknown Senders filter has been around awhile. This is new, supposedly, in 18.
Hmmm, I assumed that’s what was being referred to. I don’t see anything else in settings related to this issue, do you? I’m running 18.3.2.
Are you thinking of lockdown mode?
Here’s the article. I’m not sure what it is but he states it’s new to 18.
Ah, I think that’s been in iOS for awhile. It’s iMessage-only, based on Apple help docs and checking SMS and iMessage phishing messages I got.
Here are iOS 12 docs mentioning the feature (“You canʼt open any links in a message from an unknown sender…”) There’s no setting for it.
Ok. You would think or hope someone who writes for MacWorld would know it existed before 18. Thanks
