uBlock Origin Lite is available for Safari on macOS and iOS

Hey Friends, my favorite add blocker, uBlock Origin by Raymond Hill, is finally available for Safari on macOS and iOS! Leo Laporte from Mac Break Weekly 984 picked it as his favorite of the week. It’s completely free in all the App Stores.

It’s now installed on my MacBook, iPhone, and iPad.

Thanks for the notice, I’ll install it. Much appreciated.

It’s amazing how good the performance is when it’s not using the Safari content blocking API.

Same. This is going to kill all those subscription based adblockers. Win for users. There is nothing like uBlock

Note that the Lite version of uBlock Origin works differently that the standard (non-lite) version (MV3). While the lite version makes use of the same filter lists, it is restricted in its features due to restrictions in browser APIs. See the FAQs for details. AFAICT, this won’t matter much to anyone who installs and uses the default config, but it will be frustrating for those who highly customize their config and rely on the unsupported options. Regardless, I’m glad that it exists as a free option.

Thanks for pointing out the FAQs.

If I ever leave Firefox, I’ll try this out.
