Hi. I’ve been using Overcast for years as my main podcast player and am generally happy with it. My main use case is listening via the watch app when out running (leaving my phone at home). The Overcast watch app has always been excellent, especially the syncing and downloading of episodes. In comparison, I’ve always been amazed at how Audible, with all their resources, can’t seem to implement reliable syncing to the Audible watch app!
For several months though, the Overcast watch app hasn’t able to download & play Substack podcasts, even though they download fine to the phone app. This seems to be a know bug (according to the Overcast reddit forum) but I assume its probably a very low priority for being fixed at the moment.
Can other people confirm which podcast apps are able to handle Substack podcasts in their watch apps i.e. when using the watch app alone.
Note: Overcast watch app shows the Substack podcast episodes, each with the error message “DOWNLOAD FAILED: NOT AUTHORIZED”.
