Updated Apple TV 4K on the way?

Hey everyone, any news on a refreshed Apple TV 4K on the way? Last I heard “Late 2025” was the rumor, but we’re past Black Friday already and already in December, and I doubt they’d release it right before Christmas.

Any new news on this? What I’d really be excited for is DTS audio support, specifically.

Also, is it true that the current Apple TV 4K doesn’t support audio passthrough? Like if I plug it into my receiver, the audio won’t play through my speaker setup? Just seems hard to believe, honestly, but I don’t own one. That’d be a deal breaker for me.

It was the one thing i wanted these holidays. Unfortunately didn’t get what I wanted :(.

Can’t see apple releasing it this late.

Same here, was really hoping to get one this Christmas. Might get an Ugoos AM6B+ instead, seems like the best box out there, just wish I didn’t have to deal with Android TV.

Absolutely not true. I have almost always have Apple TV’s configured to use Audio video receivers (AVR) as the amplifier/sound system.

Not sure why you want DTS - nobody uses it (:wink) when Atmos is clearly the de facto standard (:wink)

Concur. We’ve always run ours through a receiver into our own sound system

I’m very glad to hear I’ve been misinformed then!

I agree that Atmos is better than DTS, I just happen to grab movies from sources that sometimes use DTS audio. Just gotta make sure my library plays properly.
