USB A to USB C…

Went to the Apple Store today to get a USB A to USB C cable to use on my new iPhone for CarPlay. I was shocked when apple doesn’t sell these cables. Did they ever?

Anyone recommend a good cable for my car? I have an adapter lighting to USBC adapter but I’m told they won’t work for CarPlay but haven’t tried it yet.

Depending on what you’re taking about , yes they do

Another option is the Nimble PowerKnit 0.75 m USB-A to USB-C cable

(I don’t own it.)

I have been using the following cable in the car and have not had any issues with it.

I found an inexpensive USB-A to USB-C one at IKEA of all places. Search LILLHULT at your local IKEA. They are braided and come in different lengths and colors depending on your country.

I’ve been using these for a couple of years at my desk:

2 for $11. Data as well as power. (Some of these are power only).

Been using these with no issues

I purchased a 5 pack of 12" USB-A to USB-C on Amazon for around $10US in October. Not name brand but I wanted something short for the car & truck. They work perfectly! Gave the other 3 cables to our kids for use in their vehicles.

Every single one of us is happy with how these cables perform… every single one of us wish they were 18"/.5m long as they don’t quite reach the cupholders. Apple was on to something with the .5m Lightning cable!

I have been using this for CarPlay for about a year and it has worked perfectly.

I suspect they never have sold a first party A-C cable.

When the computers went USB-C it was all USB PD (power delivery). When the peripherals went USB-C recently they’re all designed to connect to existing Mac computers which have been USB-C for most of a decade now.

When the iPhone went USB-C it was already well into the era of PD as well, so again, why have an A port on one end.
