"USB-C lifestyle" battery pack?

I have almost all of my stuff on USB-C, and I’m looking to upgrade my “goes with me everywhere” battery pack. Basically this pack needs to be able to power my laptop, top off my phone if they die when I’m away from home for the day.

Requirements are:

  • 10,000 mAh capacity at a minimum (more is better)
  • USB-C PD capable of powering my MBA (which, startlingly, only ships with a 30W charger!)
  • An additional USB-C port (charging speed doesn’t matter)
  • A third port, which can be USB-C or USB-A (charging speed doesn’t matter)
  • Under $100

I wouldn’t expect to find one with those requirements that also has a little watch charger spot, but that would be a neat bonus. And of course a fourth port (ideally 3 USB-C, 1 USB-A total) would be awesome as well. But it’s looking like that would put me well over $100, so I’m attempting to be realistic.

Do any of you have a battery pack that fits that description that you like?

I think that you’re asking for a heck of a lot there and I doubt it’s possible

I think this is the closest I can find Anker 733 Power Bank (GaNPrime PowerCore 65W) - Anker US which seems to meet your need, but I’d be surprised if 10k mAh is enough.

It doesn’t need to be able to completely charge everything from “dead” to “full.” The ability to run the MBA off of it for an hour or so, plus prevent the iPhone from dying, would be more than sufficient. Especially true if it has a wall plug like that one.

At this point it’s more about trying to find something that has more USB-C than USB-A ports, since all of my stuff is C. Yes, I can carry adapters - but I’m getting to the point where my existing battery needs to be replaced anyway, so I think it makes sense to take a good look at port configurations in the process.

Outside your budget:

I have an Anker Prime Power Bank, it’s great at home, but I dislike the form factor for travel.

I’ve been eyeing these Mophie banks from Apple for carrying around.

Mophie banjs are awesome. I just wish they weren’t so darn expensive.

I have and have had multiple power banks from Anker. All have been 100% solid purchases. #imo #ymmv

I recently got one of these: Anker Prime 27,650mAh Power Bank (250W) - Anker CA

It’s expensive but it works flawlessly and I trust it to not spontaneously combust or fry my devices. One of the categories of things that I tend to not mind spending more for quality is small, power-dense battery packs that can go boom or make my devices go boom.

Holy moley, that thing looks awesome. Do you need to use the app thing to make it work properly? Or does it act like a regular “dumb” power bank if you don’t use the app?

Haha, I’m glad the Anker Prime got posted. I wanted to earlier because it’s the best answer, but it seemed too early in the thread to suggest 2.5xing the budget. Excellent hardware.

Dang! Sure looks awesome BUT I’d be afraid to have that in my house. It would have to stay outside next to the Tesla (which could also burst into flames…)

There’s absolutely no need to use the app. (I may have also gotten the optional magnetic charging base so that it’s always charged and ready, plus the base has a couple of USB-C power ports on it that I use at my desk to charge stuff like AirPods and other peripherals)

It has about the same capacity as a 16" MBP so it’s in good company as far as Li battery size goes

I think I could make a case for the Mophie XL being the better choice as it’s more compact. It would tuck more nicely into a laptop bag.

I have the Mophie XL (or an older version) and I like it very much as well. My only real complaint is that it’s difficult to tell how charged it is given that it has only 4 LEDs to indicate charge

Costco member? I got this for my wife. She has rarely used it but it seems to be the most universal one I’ve seen and the cost is low ($40).
