Using Drafts with Claude - input sought

There was much chat about using Drafts (took me a while to get that it wasn’t the draughts folder in email…) and I’d appreciate any input and points to use cases, with examples if possible, on how I can use it.

I’m interested in having the Robot take actions and events to BusyCal via Drafts.

Tell me how you use it please?

Graham
PS I got the pro version.

Don’t forget there’s a busycal mcp that claude can access directly

Already using it! Thanks.

I use Drafts all day long. I frequently use it with Cowork. Drafts has an MCP, but as with all MCPs (the ones I’ve tried anyway) there is a significant overhead cost, paid in tokens.

Therefore, when I want to send a draft to NotePlan I do it with a Drafts Action. When I want to send a file to Drafts from NotePlan I do it with a Keyboard Maestro macro. Both are faster than using MCPs and there is no token cost.

There is a BusyCal MCP that can be used from Cowork and there is a Drafts Action on the Drafts Directory that you can download to send an event from Drafts to BusyCal. I don’t use BusyCal so I don’t know how reliable either is.

Drafts can also be used to trigger a Shortcut. If you have processing that can be handled by the Use Model action in a shortcut, you can avoid Cowork token expenditure. Write or capture in Drafts → process using a shortcut → then send to Cowork.

In a similar fashion, Drafts can handle text processing that might cost a lot of tokens if done by Cowork.

When the new, smarter Siri arrives (assuming that ever happens) I think that the ability to find ways to process “outside of Cowork” will allow Cowork to be reserved for the most complex requirements. I envision Drafts acting as a pivot, moving text from one application to another to take advantage of that option.
