Using Journal app on Mac

I thought that iPhone apps could be used on the Mac even though there wasn’t a dedicated Mac app. I don’t know the technical way that works. But I’ve looked at the Apple Journal app and there is no way that I can see how to use that on the Mac. Are some iPhone apps not given the ability to use on the Mac?

I know that with the new OS26, the Journal app is coming to the Mac. However, I wait at least a few months before I upgrade my Mac since all my work is done on it.

I do have an iPad that I use for consumption so I’m waiting for the new OS to drop sometime to day. That has a keyboard so that may be the way around this issue.

Yes, that’s correct. There’s a setting for all developers that allows or disallows the user to use the app on a Mac when it’s intended for iOS or iPad OS.

Thanks. Didn’t realize it was for developers to decide which obviously makes sense.

Unfortunately, after downloading OS26 on my iPad yesterday, it turns out you can’t sync Journal app with an iPhone unless it is running 26 as well. I wasn’t ready to put the new OS onto my phone but perhaps this will accelerate that.

However I use iPhone Mirroring to run iPhone apps on my Mac regardless of what the developer wants. Great way to be able to use a real keyboard with my iPhone.

Right but that’s running in a emulator. We’re talking about bare metal.

iPhone Mirroring is not the same.

Sure, but for me it’s good enough. I don’t think I’ve got even one iPhone app running directly on the Mac.
