Varied permissions for Mac applications

I couldn’t figure out a long-standing problem with my old user account, so I moved to a new one, where the issue has, so far, not appeared. All my apps are in Macintosh HD/Applications. (none in any user account)

I’ve noticed most of those apps have permission of System: read/write, admin: read only, everyone: read only.

However some have my my old account: read/write, staff: read only, everyone: read only. And some others have my my new account: read/write, staff: read only, everyone: read only.

I’ll soon remove my old account, so I’m concerned about having things on the Mac that no longer have an existing “owner.” Are these varying permissions a problem for apps? What are the optimal permissions for Mac apps?

There may be files all over the place with the old account r/w and the new account not listed at all.

Any recommendations?

Thanks,
Russell
