Watchexec permissions requests on upgrading to Sonoma

I upgraded a MBP from Monterey to Sonoma, and was greeted with many requests for “watchexec” to access everything from photos to contacts to cloud. Apparently, watchexec is “a simple, standalone tool that watches a path and runs a command whenever it detects modifications.” Umm, thanks.

I have no idea what installed this or how to trace what’s calling it. I was surprised to find nothing about it specific to permission or macOS when I google it. Any ideas?

Are you using homebrew?

Yes…

The “Packaging Status” section of that GitHub page lists homebrew so one or more of your homebrew packages might require watchexec.

Thanks for the detail. I did see Homebrew listed, but I still wondered if I could narrow it down.
