What kinds of Webcams are you all using these days? Last year I bought the Opal webcam and although the software is buggy, I was happy enough with the image. I like the soft bokeh effect of the Opal, but I’d like to invest in a good webcam this year. I use it daily for trainings in professional settings.
I recommend checking out Tom Buck’s YouTube channel. He’s very entertaining (especially if you enjoy puns) and his years of experience shines through in his videos.
Inspired by two recent videos, I’m currently field testing and the OBSBOT Meet 2 and the YoloCam S3.
I just bought the Anker C220 on a Black Friday deal to replace my aging Logitech 720p, it does a decent job for Teams calls (I use Windows for work) and the like, but it’s not as good as the Webcam on my MBA.

For the Learn OmniFocus LIVE sessions (which aren’t recorded), I’ve been experimenting with the OBSBOT Meet 2 and the YoloCam S3.
I use my iPhone 16 Pro Max for recording videos (including Why OmniFocus? – 10 Features That Set It Apart). I’m experimenting with using the YoloCam S3, which I received last week, as an alternative to the iPhone for recording videos.
The OBSBOT Meet 2 is very compact and will probably be my travel webcam of choice. The YoloCam S3 is larger (though still compact) and has a large (by webcam standards) 1/1.3" sensor.
Thanks. I was using the iPhone 16 Pro Max as well, and the quality was great but had some trouble with recordings at times, so started using a more dedicated device - the Elgato Facecam Pro which I think has been discontinued now. Is good, but I don’t think the quality is as good as I was getting with the 16 Pro Max. So on the lookout for an alternative and may give the YoloCam S3 a whirl.
I have the original Facecam, which I used for a while with mixed results. I haven’t tried the Facecam Pro or the new Facecam 4K.
The jury’s still out on the YoloCam.
The hardware itself seems good (solid build, quality lens). The YoloLiv Compose app is pretty basic and sometimes has issues detecting the camera (unplugging and replugging usually fixes it). The YoloCam is a very recent product, and I expect (hope) the software will improve over time.
I’ve had some contact with YoloLiv Support and haven’t had a great experience. They tend to be slow to respond and I’ve had to ask the same question multiple times before getting a proper response.
I’ve also recently bought the Insta360 Link and haven’t found too much wrong yet!
