The reason I started this thread is because I’m always fascinated by what people do. I went with a really “familiar” path towards a job. High school->college->teaching.
Like how does one become a head of placing advertisements? Like we all know all know someone does it (maybe we just take it for granted).
I’m an IT team lead, was a solution architect specialised in Unix systems but now find myself with Microsoft and cloud consultants to manage! I use a 10.5 iPad all day every day much to the consternation of our internal IT support😆
Thanks, it’s quite a stressy job, with lots of moving parts. Someone has to do it, haha.
I studied old german (medieval) literature and language, not many jobs out there with that. So I worked myself up in my student job:)
Today my job was vet tech (vaccinating sheep) and water girl (filling water tanks for livestock) Later it’s going to be beer and or wine drinker and cook
I’m a retired primary bilingual (Spanish) teacher who typically taught third grade in the inner city and loved every minute of it (or just about). I taught terrific little eight year olds who were hard workers, eager and efficient helpers but who still believed in Santa Claus. They possessed a marvelous sense of wonder. I stressed English as that’s the language they will need the most.
I am an investor in bonds, equities, crypto and private equity and love working from my phone. Apps have become so powerful. I am mostly using an iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPad Pro 12.9 and an iMac Pro at home.
Here is my homescreen. Might look a little diffeeent than some others. Top 2 rows are Siri recommended since iOS 14.
PhD Candidate in Ancient Philosophy. Former-English teacher. Former professional vagabond: first as a buddhist devout (theravada), then as a mountain climber/guide. Former W+EMT (Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician): >6yrs ago I had just started working for a company teaching Wilderness First Response when my health got compromised due to some flu-like virus. I got back to Philosophy and it suits me well now seeing that I cannot exert myself physically anymore.
That’s pretty hardcore, and what a reminder how resilient we can be, and at the same time how fragile we are. I’m sure there are a lot of philosophical things to explore that lol.
