I am a teacher in a Bible college. I was also a Graphic Designer for managing many years.
IT generalist (for, gods help me, nearly seventeen years) and sometimes a writer on the side. I used and supported Macs off and on over the years, but I started my last job right when the 4S came out and was handed one as a company phone. That became a gateway drug for the Apple ecosystem, in which I’m now happily-ensconsed.
Spanish healthcare intepreter, intepreter educator, professor, Phd-Student-on-pause, dad, one-time (or two-time) witch, universe-knower and hearer (not in that order though).

It is very much windows based but 10 years ago we looked for a software that is cross platform and settled on Graphisoft ArchiCad https://www.graphisoft.com/archicad/ and haven’t regretted it. We weren’t going to let software dictate our OS choice. Arguably ArchiCad is a more mature product than it’s competitors anyway being a 30+ year old modeling software.
Retired from many things I worked as a tractor-trailer driver and assembly line worker (auto). Finished the career path as a teacher/instructor — 4th grade through college.

True enough. We actually still have a VMS system running even though we stopped using the application in 2003 (and archived all the data). There is exactly one user who insists that they need to look things up in it that can’t be found anywhere else and I can’t get anyone to pull the plug.
I loved VMS. As you said, uptime was amazing. DCL was nice to work with, too. Digital missed the boat. Rainbow PC, anyone?

I am an architect but have always been a geek. When the first iPhone came out I started dreaming of creating apps for it. A few years later I took a drastic step - I reduced my work to 1-2 days a week (I thankfully had a very understanding employer) and started taking computer classes. I ended up graduating with a CS degree 4 years later! So now I am an architect and a app developer. My first app is in the app store and I am currently working on another one. I work as an architect 3 days a week and indulge my programming passion the rest of the time.
