What's beeping?

I have a new MacBook Pro (which is awesome), but every minute or so (it’s not consistent), it beeps for no apparent reason. Something is causing an alert beep. It happens when I’m typing or not, no matter what program I’m in. Any idea how to track down what is causing the beeping?

Sometimes alert windows fall behind other windows, or in other spaces, and it not easy to find them. It’s possible something that wants your attention is an alert window that’s not obvious.

Try starting up the computer with no login items (automatically launched apps) then open the apps you normally use one by one. Sooner or later one of the newly launched apps might ask for a permission or other action.

Thank you. It turns out that even though I thought I’d turned off new message notifications in Mail, apparently not. My bad.
