What's on your left swipe screen?

Was thinking about remodeling mine!

I just have small monthly Calendar/small Photos widget, followed by Weather, Parcel, and Battery Indicators.

I also keep it pretty simple. The widgets I use are:

  • A shortcut widget with my most run shortcuts.
  • Look up dictionary widget that shows a new word daily.
  • A File widget pointing to the Downloads folder
  • A widget stack containing calendar, reminders, and weather
  • Battery widget mostly for keeping track of my AirPods battery.

  • Carrot weather
  • Photos
  • Substack (upcoming subscriptions)
  • Books
  • Basecamp

Medium Widget Stack 2:

  • World clock

  • Map
  • Stocks
  • YNAB
  • Reminders

Medium Widget

  • Work calendar

I used to have mine set up as a ‘dashboard’ with info at a glance. Widgets: Activity, Health, Sleep, Batteries, Screen Time etc.

Then I realised that I rarely swipe left. I can’t remember the last time.

No left swipe for me (but I do swipe right for App Library).

And now this sounds a lot like Tinder. Swiping right shows interest and swiping left shows disinterest.

This is a great idea. I have stuff on the left side that I never use. I’m not sure what to even keep on the left side.

But what do people have in control center?

My main one is a Shortcut widget for converting the clipboard to plain text. I also put that as a button in Control Center.

I used to have a shortcuts widget for selecting speakers (AirPods, home office AirPlay, church office AirPlay, or launching the app for the UE Boom speaker in our living room) at the top. But I have moved all of that to Control Center. My “music” page of Control Center has a “Select Speakers” shortcut and then a bunch of shortcuts to choose different kinds of music so it’s like a jukebox.

So now, my “Today” view is all dashboard-style widgets. Battery, Activity, Featured Photo (which is the top of a stack that also contains “Find My” shortcuts for each of my family members), hourly weather & daily weather (2 Carrot weather widgets in a stack), and a Bible quotation in a stack with shortcut to open my prayer list.
