What's the best app for reading this forum, and getting notifications on post activity

I quite like this forum, the people don’t seem to bite, but what I can’t seem to find is a good forum reader app. I’d love something Reddit style where I can see posts in a card view. Does such a thing exist?

Welcome aboard.

I tend to read on the web. there is a discourse app, but the view is very similar to the web view.

The only third party app for Discourse (the technology behind this forum) I ever ran into was Fig:

It was a great app, but unfortunately the developer abandoned it, because it was not sustainable (financially).

I still have the app installed, but most forums/fora updated the Discourse software and no longer work with Fig

In fact, MPU is the last one left… (running old software?)

Still using Fig. Once that dies I’ll just stick to using Discourse when I’m at a desktop.

I have neither time nor desire to use dedicated apps to catch up on news, so I just use a standard RSS reader (in my case News Explorer) to keep an eye on stuff I’m interested in, like this forum. It won’t show you replies but I see that as a feature. For topics I care about, I just use Discourse’s in-built notification function to check for replies.

Would you be able to share a screenshot of the reddit view you like? Just curious.

The official Discourse Hub does me.

It’s just a wrapper around the mobile websites but it has notifications and prevents me clogging up my browser with loads of forum tabs.

Fig was great and still works for some sites.

That said, I use Tapestry to see new topics as they get posted.
