I’m a software engineer professionally, but don’t know Swift and have never developed for an Apple platform.
I’ve been tinkering in Xcode and working on a couple really simple apps. I’d like to get them in TestFlight for friends and at some point maybe the App Store. But these would be very simple free apps. I have no intent on paid apps or running a business.
Should I enter the paid dev program with my personal Apple ID and just add the new entitlement to that? Create a new second Apple ID just for this along w the friction and headaches that go along with that?
Do I need an LLC and a second Apple ID for something like that? Liability concerns for even simple stuff like this? Am I overthinking this? What do you recommend? Thanks!
I have the paid developer subscription and I use my one AppleID. The developer subscription has all the hooks for free or paid apps. I have a couple of free apps in the App Store, it’s a little convoluted IMHO but it works.
Not an expert by any means, but I seem to recall the thing I’ve heard in the past on numerous podcasts is that if you ever go to transfer the business, it’s either a pain or impossible to do without transferring the underlying Apple account.
I’m using my personal Apple ID for paid dev program and recently converted it to a Company Profile under LLC I registered. Took me a few hops like registering DUNS profile, but eventually worked out.
