When obvious automations…aren’t obvious

Had a “doy” moment thought I’d see if anyone else had a similar experience.

I have a waterproof Bluetooth speaker in the bathroom I like to use for podcasts when getting ready in the morning. For several years now, I’ve had an automation on my phone run when it connects to it, it runs the same shortcut when it connects to my car; it gives me a menu to choose from to open overcast, music or disconnect so my wife can connect instead. But 99% of the time I connect to the bathroom speaker I just want to play my Daily (News) playlist in overcast. So it occurred to me to just have the automation for connecting to that speaker start playing that playlist in overcast (I believe that’s possible because the developer made playlists an option to shortcuts).

So now I just turn on the speaker and it starts playing the days news, no interaction with the phone. Why didn’t I think of this earlier :man_facepalming:

I also thought of this because I got some new open ear headphones I also intend to use almost exclusively for podcasts so I set an automation to start playing my queue in overcast when they connect.

Same, recently had some ideas automating simple repetitive stuff I could have done ages ago using Keyboard Maestro
