Where did Overcast's Siri Shortcuts settings go?

I used to have a Siri Shortcuts section in my Overcast app’s settings, but now it’s gone.

What I’ve done:

  • Deleted and re-installed the app.
  • Made sure all the switches are ON in in the Settings for Siri and Search > Overcast

Any ideas how I can get it back?

I’ve just checked. I don’t think there’s a setting in the overcast app, but if you go into the shortcuts app and make a new one (or edit an existing one) you can insert lots of different overcast actions from the app list and these will work with Siri too (especially if you add “in overscast”) to what the actions are called e.g. “Hey siri, next podcast in overcast”.

It looks as if it is now on by default. I suspect that was changed in 2022.2 (the big revamp) but it’s not listed in any release notes as far as I can see.

I was looking for something like this, from a MacStories 2021 article:

There used to be a “Siri shortcuts” item in Overcast’s settings menu that led to these screens. Apparently, rather than giving you the shortcuts, Overcast now gives you shortcuts actions from which you need to build your own, simple shortcuts.

Thanks for pointing out the change, and how to deal with it.

Best,
Russell
